Who
should attend
Motorcyclists who wish to learn about what to do in emergency
situations they may encounter.
What they will learn
During the 41/2-hour course participants will be shown how
to assess an emergency situation, determine the
priorities and manage the whole scene. This includes details
about how to make the area safe for the casualties
and yourself, getting help and giving accurate information
to the emergency services, all of which are critical in
this situation. This course is not designed to train people
in complete First Aid.
Course content
- Specific emergency treatment issues - when to move
and when not to move a casualty.
- Definitive advice as to when and when not to remove a
helmet.
- Secondary survey - rapid assessment of a casualty.
- How to assess who needs treatment first.
- A brief introduction to shock and how to deal with it
at the scene.
- Assessing bleeding and how to slow the flow rate.
- Recognition and immobilisation of fractures.
- Assessing burns, relieving pain and protecting for future
treatment.
- Soft tissue injuries.
- Recognition of head injuries and scene of accident action.
