Much of the casualty increase in 2001 can be explained
by increased ownership
BikeSafe-London began in 2003 and it would be encouraging

Statistics
show:
- Motorcycles
are the highest risk mode of transport
- London
P2W casualty rates per resident are higher than the
GB as a whole
- There
is a casualty spike of young riders of low powered
bikes and mopeds and older riders are injured on more
powerful bikes
- Men
make up around 90% of casualties but relatively more
women are injured in the 20 - 30 age group.
